To earnestly carry out the preparation of Jiangsu Province's "14th Five-Year Plan" for basic education development, improve the planning preparation procedures, and establish a sound expert consultation and demonstration system, on February 11, the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Education organized an expert demonstration meeting for the "Jiangsu Province '14th Five-Year Plan' for Basic Education Development (Draft for Review)." Former Vice Minister of the Ministry of Education and former Vice Governor of Jiangsu Province Wang Zhan, member of the Party Leadership Group of the Provincial CPPCC and Party Secretary of Nanjing University Hu Jinbo, former Director of the Provincial Department of Education Wang Bintai, and ten other experts attended the demonstration meeting. Deputy Director of the Provincial Department of Education Gu Yuehua attended the meeting and delivered a speech. Leaders from relevant offices of the Provincial Department of Education, the Provincial Institute of Educational Sciences leadership team, and heads of related departments participated in the meeting.
　　The meeting briefly introduced the preparation status of Jiangsu Province's "14th Five-Year Plan" for basic education development, as well as the overall considerations, preparation process, main content, and reflective suggestions of the plan. The attending leaders and experts carefully reviewed the planning document and unanimously agreed that the "Jiangsu Province '14th Five-Year Plan' for Basic Education Development (Draft for Review)" has a relatively clear approach, clear development goals, pragmatic tasks and measures, and strong implementation guarantees. It not only highlights the advantages and achievements of Jiangsu's basic education but also proactively plans for the future development of Jiangsu's basic education. At the same time, specific opinions and suggestions were put forward regarding the analysis of opportunities and challenges for Jiangsu's basic education development during the "14th Five-Year Plan," determination of development goals, establishment of themes and main lines, setting of key tasks, breakthroughs in critical areas, and distinctive innovative measures.
　　On behalf of the Provincial Department of Education, Gu Yuehua briefly introduced the new progress and achievements in basic education in our province in recent years and profoundly explained the new situation, new challenges, and new reflections encountered in the development of basic education during the "14th Five-Year Plan" period. In her concluding speech, she pointed out that the leaders and experts contributed wisdom and experience to the preparation of Jiangsu's "14th Five-Year Plan" for basic education development, proposed many forward-looking and strategic opinions as well as highly guiding and practical suggestions. She requested the planning writing team to carefully study, fully digest and absorb these inputs, and, in accordance with the high-standard work deployment of building a strong education province by the Provincial Party Committee and Provincial Government, promptly revise and improve the planning document, further clarify development goals and ideas, define the theme and main line, detail major tasks and innovative measures, and strive to prepare a high-quality basic education development plan that aligns with the central government's spirit, highlights Jiangsu's provincial characteristics, and meets public expectations.
